Duckett of Sisters, «aid he was decidedly against divis- n of the county at the present time when the population was c small, as it would la* certain to increase taxation to a great :tent. W. S. Rodman of Redmond, «aid that one matter in the cjues- on of county division that had been lost sight of was the trans- ibing of the county records for the new county. This, he said, ould mount up to a large sum, at least $10,000, and possibly up - $ 15,00" He said he hail information from a Mend man who aa willing to make an affidavit, that he had been informed by "ominent Mend boosters that the Mend people intended to build court house costing at least $150,000 in the event of county di- taion carrying for the proposed new county of Deschutes. Mr. Kelley of I’rineville, rend a list of data he had carefully •thered in regard to expenses of conducting the proposed new tun ties, which showed that taxes would I n * greatly increased all round I f county division carried and two new counties were irved out of Crook county. Report of Committee on Organization The Committee on Organization, By-Daws nnd Rules made teir r e p o r t , which was adopted. The name of the organization > be th« "( 'rook County Ixiwer Tax longue,” and the orgnnizn- on to consist of a president, vice-presidents to be selected by the resident from «*ach precinct in the county, nnd a secretary-treas- rer, the above officers to hold their positions for one year. Meet- igs to !>«• held annually for the el«»ction of officers and the trnns- ctlon of other business; president to call sp«*cial meetings when eemed necessary; every taxpayer in the county eligible to mem- ership upon the payment of the regular fee of 50 cents; prt»si- ient to appoint nn executive committee of five members to con- luct th«- business of the league. Non "nations Iteing in order for office of permanent president, V. S. Rodman was nominated, but respectfully declined. W. F. <ing of I ’rineville, was nominated, who also declined.
