AS T H Y S E L T
T h e fo llo w in g article has been
handed in f o r publication, and as The
Spokesman Is heartily in accord with
the sentiments expressed therein the
same is given spare In this Issue
“ It has often occurred to us that
children would get on so much bet-
ter at achool If parent« would only
c ultivate the friendship o f the teacher
more and win her confidence.
We
are quite sure that If mothers would
let the teachers see that they have
an Interest In them and the children.
too, It would stimulate the teachers
and their pupils.
It stands to rea-
son that If the teacher knows that
the parents are co-operating with her
the effo rt s which «h e puls forth are
mor e lik e ly to reault in greater pro-
gress being made by the children
T h e r e la no need whatever to make
a great friend o f the teacher, but It
would certainly help matters a great
deal If. say. the teachers were asked
to come and take tea at a definite
time, o r
spend a certain
evening
with the children and parents. Such
llttle matters are worth thinking
about and we
feel
convinced that
mothers who try what we have sug
gested wil l be pleased with the re-
sulta.
Thia was not written at the
suggestion o f any teacher, either.
