Two hoae companies, one chemical engine company and a hook and lad der company will comprise the de partment at present. The companies are manned aa follows: Hose Co. No. 1— C. R. MeLallln. C. A. Adams, linemen: J. Buckley, hydrant man; R. L. Skee. W. Rod- man. plpemen. Hoae Co. No. 2— J. Reuther, J. H. Vincent, linemen; J. W. Moore, hy drant man; L. Walker, ------- Hudson. plpemen. Chemical Knglne Co. No. 1— J. P. Doherty. Ray Osborne, W. C. W a lk er. W. o Pktwnlx Hook and Ladder Co. No. 1— W. II. Hobbs. R C. Immele, Dr. Harr, Claude Christ. C. Ordway. The city Are department ordi nance provides for 18 paid men in the department paid for services at Ares, |l an hour for the Arst hour and 50 cents for each subsequent hour o f actual service. Fire Chief Wells has Issued orders that the different companies must have a practice drill twice a week for the next month, and after that time, once a week. Reed, but later it was found out that his right name was Tom Kay. the notorious ex-de tective o f the Portland police force, whose methods while In charge o f the “ moral sq uad" there became so rank that he was relieved from his position. Kay gave It out that he had been sent here by Governor West to inves tigate the charges made by Mayor Hosch in regard to the publicity campaign against Redm ond that J. M. Crenshaw had been conducting from the pulpit o f the M. E. church here and at other places. Kay Arst heard Crenshaw's side o f the affair, and just before leaving met in con sultation with Mayor Hosch and J. W. Brewer, president o f the Red- : mond Commercial Club. He stated to these two gentlemen that he be lieved all that Crenshaw had told him. and practically upheld all o f Crenshaw's actions and utterances. The resolution adopted by the Redmond Commercial Club and nu merously signed by citizens of Red mond, was given to Kay by Mr. Brewer to be given the governor.
