Otherwise the ordinance remains practically as originally en acted. It waa stated at the meeting that (he water mains of the new water system were leaking badly, from 10,- 000 to 60,000 gallons a night, so that there was not much pressure on the mains In the early morning or forenoon. It Is understood that no means have yet been taken to reme dy the trouble. A communication was received from Jefry Ai Button, the contractors who built the water works plant In the city, asking the council to pay them about $261 above the contract price. The council was willing to pay )3 6.000 flat tor the plant, but would not grant the additional lum asked by the contractors, snd the plant has not yet been accepted from the contractors, though the city Is using the water and allowing water users to attach to the mains. Permission was given to erect electric light signs In front of store buildings after a permit had been obtained from the city recorder.
