It Is known to the writer that the protection of this hom* la never re fused to any child, no matter what Its race, color or physical Inllrmltles may be. Pitiful Indeed, has been the condition of the many Inmates In times past All of these unhappy creatures have received the same de gree o f care at the hands of (he gray haired woman In charge It has been a heavy burden for one woman to carry, but Mra Woolaey, truly a grand type of a Christian character, has borne It cheerfully and gladly. The Home la In need of food and clothing for the children, and fuel, or money to buy these essentials Some of the children are without ad equate clothing. one little girl Is wearing a pair of men's shoes The things necessary to maintain the children In a fair degree of physical comfort must be forthcoming speed ily or there will be keen suffering Cannot the good people o f this community come to the assistance of this worthy and deserving Institu tion» Through all the years there has been no vacation for Mother Wool- B ey Hera has been a life o f drudg ery and self abnegation. About the only grudge that can lie concocted against the climatic conditions Is the fact that It rains considerably along the coast And this la not a legtimate objection, de spite the complaints of Inexperienc ed breeders who Insist that the rains are responsible for light egg produc tion among other things When objections of this character are analyzed It Is usually found the disgruntled breeders have not taken proper precautions to house their birds and protect them from drafts When this simple remedy Is sppllrd, old breeders unanimously declare, poultry troubles vanish and Increas ed egg production results. Climate Is an all Important fartor to be considered In the raising of birds for the market, also. Moder ate, even temperatures are looked upon as an absolute necessity for the growth of large, perfect chickens In hot countries the breed o f birds, such as the Asiatics, for exemple, do not thrive. They rarely develop to standard weight, and lark plump ness In Oregon, however, they eas ily come to standard, and without excessive feeding The same ean be said of other varieties >c* i I v* 4i • an I fA t.il A. «U la n i o r r u rva«l \\ a r m Hprtltfl« I i »«II a i i \ i « mm y l - be p ro . «ire.I „ „ , hor1 at \V Arm «Dring».
