B rew er of th e B ank of C o m merce, was present at th e m eeting and sta te d th a t his bank was willing to assist th e ra n c h e r s In sto ck in g up with dairy rows. He also o u tlin e d th e plan by which th e ban k would adv ance th e money. A m an w a n t ing cows must m a k e a deposit of $6 per cow. T hen when th e cows get h ere he must sign a c o n tra c t a g r e e ing to pay each m o nth on th e cow until paid for: th is to be ta k e n ou t of th e cream check, o n e-h alf of It every tw o weeks. T h is plan seem ed very liberal an d s a tisfacto ry to all. T h a t a fte rn o o n 67 cows were signed up. an d since th e n the n u m b e r has Increased to 73. T he Hedraond Hank of C om m erce h a s tak h n much In terest In th e m a t te r of g e ttin g good cows Into th e c o u n tr y and have e n co u rag ed every effort to t h a t end. T he b an k has a lr e a d y placed a b o u t 60 cows with th e farm ers , an d has now m a d e def inite a r r a n g e m e n t s to place 160 a d ditional, an d w ith th e co-operation of Mr. Meyer of t h e local c re a m e ry will h ave th es e cows with th e f a r m e rs w ithin tw o weeks. T h e bank deserves m uch cred it for w hat It has done In th is line, as It Is a p p a r e n t t h a t th e d airy busi ness Is one of th e com ing Industries of th is section. Mr. B rew er, p res id en t of th e bank, will leave for P o rt la n d F rid ay m orning fo r th e purpose of c o m pleting the financial a r r a n g e m e n t s , an d Mr. Meyer and Mr. Brown will leave th e flrst of neat week to buy th e cows.
