Office. - <■» - 24 DAIRY CATIU REDMOND Contimi» d C mi » b lit ;*p A dispatch from Salem dated Dec. 7th. says: Ministers of the gospel from other states cannot perform marriage ceremonies in Oregon, according to an opinion written by Attorney General Crawford yesterday. The new law requiring all ministers to file statements of their authority to solemnize marriage contracts, provides that they shall be minis ters or priests of churches or congregations within this state. So ministers from Idaho, Wash ington, or any other state cannot cross the state line and jierform marriage ceremonies in Oregon, nor can they secure the right to do so by any means. This opin ion was written in answer to an inquiry from Robert C. Lee of Huntington, near the Idaho boundary line in eastern Oregon. It is announced that a shoot ing tournament will be held in this city about the 25th. between the Redmond Rod and Gun club and teams from Prineville and Rend. The local club is now in good working order, and the off- cers. J. L. Wilcox, president; W. S. Rodman, secretary-treasurer, and E. L. Rapp, field manager, are doing all in their power to give Redmond good clean sport along this line. Three cars of White Faced Herefords were shipj>ed by Harvey Harris of this city, and two cars of sheep were shipt>ed by F. D. La- Follette of Prineville. on Mon day. Yesterday five cars of cattle were shipped out Three cars by Mr. Slayton of Prineville. and two cars by Mr. Hunt of the same place. All of the cattle and sheep were in prime condition, and will, no doubt, command top prices in the Portland market Since the opening of the road here for freight cattle shipments from this point have been numerous, and the railroad company is sat isfied that Redmond will be the principal stock shipping point in Crook county. The roads from all directions into the city are in good condition, thus facilitating the driving of cattle to this city for shipment. " f .
