The people o f Madras expect
to set? the loc'omotive putting into
that place about the tirst o f Feb-
ruary, says the last issue o f the
Madras Pioneer. The traeklay-
ing crew is now within 50 miles
o f the city, and as they are lav
ing rails at the rate o f two
miles a day it is presumed the
rails will reach the city by the
above date. All o f the grading
is pratically completed between
Madras and the end o f the track
now. At Trout Creek then* is a
trestle that is not quite complet
ed. but that is expected to be
finished by the time the steel
gang reaches that point. The
construction camnsin the vicinity
north o f Madras have nearly all
laid off their men.
