The proprietors are making arrangements to get in new machinery at once. The machinery for the Rob erts Bros’ , new saw mill at this place, arrived last Saturday and a force of men is now at work getting the mill in condition to begin sawing on the bridge tim ber contract the Roberts have with the Oregon Trunk Line. Frank Paul went to Redmond last Saturday on business. John Wilt o f this place, left last week for different points in the Willamette Valley, and ex pects to be gone about six weeks. George McFarlane and family were in Redmond Monday. Mr. McFarlane was looking after his property interests there. Wilson & Berry have taken charge o f the Pole Creek mill and will soon have the plant in oper ation. E. C. Hankel has moved on to the Alex Thompson ranch which was recently bought by L. E. Smith of Redmond. Mr. Hankel is a practical man and under stands all branches o f agricul ture. George McFarlane and family left yesterday for the Willamette Valley after fruit. Frank McCaffery was over from Redmond Tuesday looking after some clearing on the Whitbeek ranch. L. E. Smith o f Redmond, who bought the Thompson ranch, was here Tuesday looking over his property. The school house was crowded Friday night to an uncomfortable degree, and not near enough seats could be given the audience. It is to be hoped that a suitable hall or opera house will be built this fall so as to have it in readi- ! ness for the winter amusements. , There has been some talk of putting up such a building, but so far nothing definite has mater ialized.
