At 12 o’clock ton igh t the old year, with all its joy*, fOrrows, hopes, and disappoinltnuuts, will die, and in its place a new year, fo ll of revived hope and opportunity, will be born. v Few of us indeed" there are, who, in looking back over the twelve month just passed, cannot dee where -a liMle effort here and a little consideration there would not have m ade the journey more profitable and the path more cheer ful. And now a new year 1« upon us, unspoiled by failures, shattered hopes, or wasted tim e. It brings renewed hope, greater aspirations, and higher ideals. The days and m ouths to com e are laden w ith prom ise for those w hograsp each golden opportunity and m ake the m ost of each pass ing m inute. And in Curry county the prom ise o f the eom iog year is brighter than any in the past has been. The dairy and stock-raising industry was never better; the lum ber industry shows signs of com in g activity; good roads are being built; mineral resources are being developed, and in m any ways the new year is fu ll o f great promise. When m aking your New Year resolution s to take advan tage of com ing opportunities, also resolve to bp a better eitisen and a better neighbor. Stand with those who are tryin g to develop your com m unity; put your shoulder to the wheel with them, and take an active interest in public affairs. B e considerate of th e feelin gs and rights o f others and try to create good w ill and harm ony am ong your neighbors instead of discord and d iscon tent. The d evelop m ent of m any com m unities is throttled because of neigh borhood factiuns and neighborhood rows.
