as king of the Matabele in 1870
and boldly opposed European cir-
itiaation. He made Bulawayo his

dom. In 1888 be signed a treaty

his deportation. Jacobs is an el­
derly toan, bearing evidence of
long exposure to wind and
weather. The treasure is still to
be found.
