Last Sunday was observed as F ilin g s and Final Proofs Made on ’ Memorial Day by the people of Port i Orford, who repuired to the Ceme- Homesteads and Pre-em ptions. Capt- Couben, General S uperin te n d e n t of the Life Saving Service, arrived down on the Farallon Wed nesday, on a tour of inspection of all the Pacific Coast stations. He came ashore and visited various points on the heads, and was very favorably impressed with the local ity as a desireable site for a Life Saving Station, an appropriation for which was secured by Repro- rentative Horuiann, but which wor thy and humane undertaking was dealt a death blow at tbe start by those who should have been most deeply interested in encouraging the good work. The stntiou may yet be established, hut it depends altogether Upon whether those who control the ocean frontage are wil- < ling to aid the cause of humanity and at the same time help them selves, and indirectly help the en tire community, by dealing fairly and reasonably with the govern ment. We have received a bunch of O r n n a i m C lnv.r from Mr. 8. T*. ,Malehorn, of the Deer Park N urs ery, which is something new for Curry, and which promises to take •the lead among forageplants. Mr. M. says of it: ‘‘This Crimson DClover was sown on clay hill side, 'In olive orchard, where corn had been cut up, in September last, and burrowed in. Estim ated yield 2 | 'Ions per acre. It done much better on clay laud than river bottom this season. I consider Crimson Clover a valuable forage plant for Curry county. Its early m aturity (in May) makes it of doubtful value for bay, on account of the mois ture and low degree of temperature at this season; but for green soiling, and silo it is valuable above all oth ,r grasses for this climate, be sides being a nitrogen feeder and fertilizer.” ANDY CATHARTIC cuRtconsTi pation io * A tt DRU6GUTS 25* 50* ABSOLUTELY GUARANTEED ,1 , u d booklet fr ,,. ill.
