In fact, the
emergency occasioned the holding of
several special meetings, which were
attended by Fred L. Gifford, Grand
Dragon of the Klan, who is given cred-
it for putting over some big wòrk in
Astoria at a very critical time.
^ Despite the moving away of a large
number of members, the Astoria Klan
still is growing and it is reported that
a new class of 100 candidates will be
initiated into the Kind this week.
