The so-called patriotic ticket, com- B»sed of George B. Thomas, J. E. art in, W. J H. Clark and George P. Eisman, carried the school election by a vote of two to one over the citi zen’s ticket, su; pported, and some say, chosen, by the Portland dailies. The largest vote in the history of similar elections was cast. Arteta’s votes were sealed in the ballot box and it was necessary to go through a lot of red tape to get at the figures.
