composed, will spell the name of one of the advertisers herein. Competition in this contest is open to all readers
of the Mt. Scott Herald, and those living in the Mt. Scott district have the Fame chance of winning one of these
cash prizes. Simply find the missing letters, to accomplish which you must read every ad in this section, and mail
or bring your answer to the Contest Manager of the Mt. Scott Herald. All answers will lx; placed in a box in the
office of the Herald nnd will be opened every Wednesday evening. The person who submits the correct answer,

ARAB POPULATION INCREASE8.
In the Kasbah, the native quarter
of Algiers, there still are daggers In
the shadows, and they still cut
throats, despite the fact the French
have ruled the Arabs here for nearly
a century. The Arabs are increasing
in number and becoming richer. They
fought for the French, and the
French gave their family heads a
certain number of centime* a head
for dally maintenance while the
father was In the north fighting.
Since there are many children In the
native families, and each head was
used to being sustained on no cen
times a day at all, the father re
turned home to find his family rich.
Now the Arabs have asked to be let
alone, and necessity has compelled
the French to grant the request, for
