Rats, which cause considerable loos to farmers, should be fought consist ently, nays the biological department of the United States Department of Agriculture. Rats reproduce so rapidly that a spasmodic raid on them Is not lasting. They begin to bear young when three months old and hav> six to ten litters per year with an average of ten young per litter. The best method of control Is to make rat-proof bnlldlngs so the pests cannot get Inside and eat.
