Again Lents was favored by the
presence of one of the state officers,
Mrs. Mattie M. Sleeth, president of
the Oregon W. C. T. U., speaking in
the Evangelical church last Sunday
night. Mrs. Sleeth is an able speak
er and held her audience with un
abated interest to the end. The
world-wide interests of the W. C. T.
U. and especially the immediate
work of the organization during this
reconstruction period at home calls
for support from every loyal patriot.
The appeal for funds brought a re
sponse of $32.25 which was turned
over to the treasurer, Mrs. Elia
Funkhauser, to be applied on the
campaign fund which the local union
is raising. Mrs. Sleeth carried home
with her a fragrant bouquet of sweet
peas.

many years one of the requirements
for membership in the association.
