Mr. Jones joined

Friends’
Church in Chasta, Wash., seven years
ago. /Although for some time a suf­
ferer from heart trouble, la-t w«k,
in company with his wife, he started
for Cornduff, Saskatchewan, Canada,
to see his brother. They stopped at
Havre, Mont., for a four hours' rest,
where he "was taken worst and quiet­
ly passed away September 4, 1918.
Mr. Jones leaves a wife and two
daughters, Nora E. Wrepp and Lor-
eta Fay Griffith to mourn his loss,
many
with
other
relatives
and
friends.
Interment was at Mt. Scott Park
Mus
Cemetery, Monday afternoon.

The two-platoon system for mem­
bers of the city fire department went
into effect temporarily Tuesday, un­
der authorization of the City Coun­
cil. The plan allows the men to be
divided into day and night shifts.
The system will continue until No­
vember 7, the permanency of the two
platoons to be submitted to the vot­
ers November 5.
Beginning Thursday a racing program will be presented
with the fastest horses of the West competing.
