If prepared ehick feed is need, buy good quality, Tbe cracked corn in the chick feed may be musty if too dd and if it has lieen heated in any way. If yonr miller ean supply a good grade of cracked corn and cracked wheat, you can make a good efficient home mixture of chick feed. A chick ration that is too concen­ trated will cause digestive troubles. A ration that is too bulky will not furnish enough nourishment for satisfactory growth. Don’t forget that the growing chick nerds just as carefully a balanced ra­ tion as the laying ben. Ash, grit, char­ coal, succulent green food and animal food are important elements in the chick’s ration. Tiie following ration and method of ciiick feeding is used successfully at the Oregon Experiment Station, recommended: Starting Food- Bran mixed crumbly with soft boiled egg; or bread squeesed dry oet of milk.
