Mrs. A. 8. Additon, recentiy widowed, came up from her home in California to attend the funeral of her husband’s father. She returned home in Berkeley on Friday, to be with her mother who is ill. Mrs. Jennie Hosmer of Eugene, an old time friend of Mrs. L. F. Additon spent a few days here, returning to her home on Monday. Mrs. Additon has been the recipient of many beautiful letters, among them is one from the acting president of the National Woman's Temperance Union, Miss Anna A. Gordon, giving voice to the thought that in work—in service to others—bereaved hearts c’u beet be comforted. She says in her letter: "You have our heartfelt sympathy in your loneliness and sorrow. May God comfort you. I am sure you will find our blessed work a solace.” On Tuesday of this week Mt. Bcott Union met at the new Fankhauser home just beyond Johnson Creek.
