The Herald is glad to see Mr. T. M. Hurlburt in the race for sheriff. The time is ripe for new blood in the sheriff’s office. All the other candidates have had experience of a nature that suggests the need of some one who is not wedded to past ex perience. What we need in the sheriff’s office is less bluff, less eccentricity, less policy and less alleged “graft” than has been the rule for the past few years. Mr. Hurlburt comes of good stock, has been tried, is of known reliability, and that is what we all want. There are several gentlemen in Multnomah county who think they can live on $7500 a year, and two trips across the country at 20 cents a mile. They think they can do it without asking for the milage on a trip they did not make. But then Lafferty spent several months of his time in Europe. Two trips across the U. S. at 20 cents a mile would balance that account. NOTES Of THE W. C, T. U. 09 St. and 46 Ave. 8 E. Bible School 10 a. m. Preaching Service 11 a. m. and 7:3 p. m. Chnstain Endeavor 6:30 p. m.
