The State Highway Commission to the delegates from Malheur county, who appeared before them in Portland, gave their word that they would cooperate with Malheur county In the building of the proposed state highways if Malheur county would do her part "'th a local bond issue. Should the bonds fail the highway commission will be released of its pledge to build the highway thru Malheur county. Should the bond issue foil Malheur county will be branded as the most backward section of the state. Should the bond issue fail the country court would naturally be discouraged in trying to improve the road conditions thruout the county. Should the bond issue fail at this time it would probably cost the people of Malheur county the loss of a million dollars of state and federal money which is now available and which is being more and more contended for. Should the bond issue fail it would likely take several years before another program could be worked out that would meet with support of the various precincts; and in the meanwhile several times the amount of the bond issue would be paid to the "God of Mossbackism" in the fonn of a bad roads tax. There is every indication that the bond issue will carry four oi five to one, and it will if the people who recognize the envestment value in better roads realize the necessity of their voting at this election and preventing the possibility of a defeat by default. Why not make it a un animous 100 per cent election. a a n a PURE FABRIC hW IS NECESSITY The Harney and Malheur County Woolgrowers Organization has with other sheepmen thruout the West beer, waging a fight for a pure fabric law the effect of which will be more to the interests of the public and the reliable textile manufacturers than to the sheepmen; but will indirectly help standardize their products and develop a bettter market for wool. The Enterprise thoroughly recommends the passage of the proposed law and sug-gei-ts that the Vale Chamber of Commerce, the Ontario ommercial Club, The Commercial Organization in Nyssa, Jordan Valley, the Precinct Develop ment Leagues thruout the county and the Malheur County Development League pass resolutions endorsing this law, having same sent to Frani McKnight, Vale, Oregon, Secretary of the Harney and Malheur Counties Woolgrowers organization, to the Oregon State Chamber of Commerce' at Portland, Oregon, to the Congressman Sinnott and Seniors Chamber lain and McNary in Washington, asking their aid in the matter. Coming from the greatest virgin wool market in the world these resolutions should go a long vay toward securing the desired protection. a a -Hi a A BIRTHDAY WE ALL ENJOY. This is the best showing mude by any county in the state and is equaled only by Douglas county in the Willamette Valley and Klamath county in southern Oregon. We know bv reports coming from all parts of the county that range and livestock conditions have never been better for years past. This not only makes the stockmen happy but guarantees the prosperity of the entire Inland Oregon Em pire, for after all from the beginning and until the end, the stock indus try is of primary importance to this section. n n n, n A It ho there are many things wrong with the United States of Am erica and altho we all have our remedial for their cure, after carefully checking over the Atlas we have decided thut America's "temperature" is nearer normal than we sometimes believe. f - :i ; Who will start Vale's development.
