R. Ulrich, a Seattle man, spent a
portion of this week in this section look
ing over the P. L. S. company land
holdings and inspecting the Silver creek
irrigation project being promoted by
Messrs. McConnell, Cole Bros, and
associates. Mr. Ulrich secured much
information and data on the Pacific Live
Stock holdings and also ' visited the
Silvies valley reservoir site, lie dis
cussed the possibility of purchasing the
big land holdings of the company with
Assistant Supt Holland and intimated
that he might secure capital to buy
the land and also take up the Silvies
Valley irrigation scheme that would
control the water and irrigate the great
Harney valley. : This is a project of
much magnitude and should Mr. Ulrich
succeed in interesting capital it would
mean great things for this section.

Mr. Ulrich, while on this trip made
Vale his headquarters. He was brought
here by Wm. French, the drummer and
Vale booster. Mr. Ulrich spent much
of his time looking over land in this
vicinity. He is a member of a Seattle
company which wants to buy 40,000
acres of land.
SEEK COURT FOR
RECOVERY OF MONEY
A complaint filed during the past
week in the circuit court is that in
which L. Belle Lees is plaintiff and
Frank W. Mogan, J. H. Farley, Wash
Hillman and Mrs. Crocker Johnson, are
the defendants, for the payment of a
promissory note.
The note was first made out by Mogan
and then transferred to the other par
ties, and was for $832. The complaint
shows that only $358 has been paid and
the plaintiff now seeks the court for
judgment in the sum of $505, with at
torneys fees and costs of action.
Complaint was filed in the Circuit
court the past week in which the Oregon-Idaho
Lumber company is plaintiff
and G. W. Gouid as .defendant for the
recovery of money. The complaint
states that the plaintiff sold the defend
ant lumber amounting to $2,324.47 which
has never been paid. H. C. Eastham
is the attorney for the plaintiff.
LAWN FESTIVAL TO BE GIVEN AT
METHODIST CHURCH TUESDAY EVE:
On Tuesday evening will take place
a lawn festival and entertainment at
the Methodist church. The affair is
being given by the Ladies Aid and the
Christian Endeavor societies to raise
money for the painting of the church
building. The entertainment will be
free, but ice cream and cake will be on
sale. All are cordially invited.

married by Rev. Carl Bent. A wedding
supper was served at the close of the
