The wind-up of the Thanksgiving turkey deal was rather
unsatisfactory in most markets. Seattlo and Portland mar
kets carried over considerable surplus duo to slow domand
from consumers and heavy unexpected lato receipts. San
Francisco markot was entirely demoralized Wednesday bo
foro Thanksgiving duo to tho heaviest recoipts In tho history
of thoir business. It Is estlmatod that 300,000 lbs. of tur
koys woro carried over which will havo to bo disposed of at
Christmas or Inter as frozon Btock. Chicngo and Central West
murkots woro ulso over-supplied.
Wo aro also advised that thoro will bo heavy importa
tions of turkoys for Ciiristmns from Canada, France, Argen
tine and Australia.
With tho hoavy supply still to bo marketed, It will bo ne
cessary to nmko somo early shipments for DocembeT to dls
