Religious Laws, Handed Down
Centuries, Are Given Most lm-
plicit Obedience.
for
The religious laws of Brahmnnlsm
divide the Hindu people in India Into
four principal hereditary classes or
custes the Ilruhmuns (priests).
Ksliutlyas (rulers and warriors),
vusluyus, (merchants and husband
men), and Sudras (mechanics, laborers
or servants), the first three being
known us "twiceboni" and the lust
us "once-born." These original four
castes, however, have become to
a great extent sub-divided the
men being known by their work
or trades, as Uie "caste" of shoe
makers and the "caste" of sweepers'
so that nowadays the Brahmuns alone
lire said to remain as a distinct caste.
Aside from all these are the Parluhs
(or outcasts) who have no caste. Ac-
cording to the Cyclopedia of India,
"The effect of the caste system Is
that no man may lawfully eat with
any individual of any other caste, or
partake of food cooked by him, or
murry Into another caste family; but
he may be his friend, his master, his
servant, his nurtner."

Why Be Deprived of
the Joy of Electric
Cooking?
The Electric Range is one of the modem time and labor
saving devices that turns the task of keeping house Into a
pleasure. It Is as essential In the home1 as the adding
machine, or typewriter are in the busy office. It means
greater efficiency, 'better food and a great saving of time.
Electric Cooking is More
Economical
The cost ot electric fuel is low and there is never a
shortage of it. Another material saving is realized, too, in
the 'saving of food there Is so much less shrinkage of meats
that are cooked electrically.
1 .
But, perhaps the thing that every woman appreciates .
most ot all is the coolness and cleanliness ot the Electric
Range. Even on the hottest day, your kitchen will be as
cool as any other room in the house.
