CLUB NOTES
Big Bciid Wis First Ball Gaino
The Corn club at Big Bend won
the first baseball game ot the seas
on from Kingman Kolony last Wed
nesday, by a score of 17 to 0. The
Big Bend team played superior ball
in every department ot the game and
worked together like a well oiled
machine. As tlioro are only five
boys in the Kingman Kolony1 Fig
club, Overstrcet has to hustle four
tho first time the team has played
and with a month's practice will im
prove a hundred per cent. The
batteries for the gamo were Big
'Bend, Parker and Brumback; King
man Kollny, Elliott and Elliott.
Tho Valley View Poultry club
met at the home of Mrs. Hans Oft
on Thursday afternoon to discuss
feeding, kinds ot feeds and equip
ment for feeding. President Homer
Oft called thb meeting to order and
the members answerCd roll call by
telling what hey were feeding their
chicks. Harold Albee talked on
feeding appliances,' emphasizing the
fact that poultry club members could
make their own mash hoppers very
easily at about one fifth of what it
would cost to buy them. Mrs. Oft
supplied various kinds of poultry
feed for inspection, and discussed
value of the different feeds.
The members of this club are
raising 6 ducks and 115 chickens.
At thecclose of, the meeting the
club decided to hike to Mr. Cain's
poultry farm on June 2, to inspect
his houses, equipment and chicks.
The meeting was adjourned after,
which Mrs. Oft served refreshments.
Is there a club in the county that
can get up a baseball team jwhose
players are not over 12 'years old?
The Valley View Poultry club here
by challenges any club team to a
game of baseball, providing the
members of that' team are not over
12 years old. The members ot the
Valley View team are from 9 to 12
years. Any club that is interested
should get In touch with the county
club agent.
Pig Club Members Meet
The members of theJefferson and
Oregon Slope pig clubs met with the
county club agent at Mr. Carr's on
Friday to Judge brood sows. After
pointing out the essential points
which go to make up the ideal
brood sow conformation, the boys
were asked to pick out the best, sec
ond best and poorest ot tho sows and
toll why they placed one 'sow over
another. Mr. Carr then placed the
animals and told the boys why he
considered one sow better than an
other. After the Judging the boys
had a practice game of baseball.
