A HOSPITAL'S WORTH
What Is a hospital north to a
city? What Is ono worth to tho In
dividual citizen?
Theso aro questions which Ontnr
Inns do not ask thamsolvcs, because
they havo a hospital at hand.
nut If thcro were no hospital In
Ontario what would each Individual
consldor a fair exchange for the
feollnic of security which results
from tho prcsonco of an Institution
such as tho Holy Ilosary Hospital
In a community llko this?
In a recent Issuo of tho Corvallls
Gazotto Times thoro nppcarod an ed
itorial upon this very subject. Cor
vallls has Just had completed a
hbpltnl aduquato for Its needs, and
tho Ghzotto-Tlmcs declared that ono
of tho prominent citizens summod
up tho caso of tho worth of n hospi
tal to tho Individual In words some
thing llko this:
"Ilocauso Corvallls had no ndo
quato hospital when my wlfn took
sick, It cost mo $250 mora for an
operation than was necessary, than
It would othorwlso havo dono. I
nrrlvod at thoso figures by having
the doctor keep track of tho cost of

In tho hospital longer than If bIio

Fills was necessary becauso of tho
feeling Hint sho was not strong
onough to mako tho trip homo.
Had sho bcon in Corvallls sho would
havo been Bovornl days less In tho
hospital than sho was."
Ilut this Is putting It on a mora
dollar and cents basis, tho lowest
posstblo terms. JUBt think of tho
fnct that hccutiHO of tho hospital
hero many lives havo been savod
that otherwise might have been
lost, and of tho possibility, yos tho
cortalnty Hint many otliors will like
wlso bo saved. And no one knows
who wilt bo tho next ono to bo savod.
At soma tlmo every family In
Ontario has, or will hnvo need for
tho hospital. When they need It, It
Is appreciated. Hut It must bo kept
going nil tho time, and at alt times
tho peoplo owo It to themsolvcs to
tako an Interest In Its welfare.
Then thcro Is tho public benefit
which tho hospital gives tho city.
It brings to Ontario nnuually hun
dreds of peoplo who othorwlso would
not come hero; rolatlvus and friends
of thoso who aro tho patients. These
frlands stay nt our hotels, oat at
our rcstaurnnls, visit our stores und
buy supplies oro they return to
thplr homes. Thus directly does tho
hospital show direct returns to tho
city.
Ontario has reason to bo proud
of tho Holy Ilosary hospital. It has
a standard training school for
nursos. It has n well equlppod
surgery, excellent accommodations
for patients, a woll appointed ma
turhlty ward; n nurses homo and nil
of tho features that such an Institu
tion should luivu.
Whllo tho hospltnl Is tho proper
ty of u prlvato corporation, tho
Dominican Sisters of Ontario, It Is
In ovory other sonso u public Insti
tution. It ministers o tho sick of
ovory faith, of every creed of ovory
color. Itlch anil poor aro alike.
Nono n ru turned away becauso of
lack of funds. Tho charitable work
.dona thoro Is seldom heard of yet
It Is an ovory day event.
From tho nbundanco with which
somo of our citizens aro blessed
surely thoro Is something which
thoy can, to their own good, contri
bute to tho work of the Sisters, to
tho blessing of their fellow inou.
Tho sisters, through their Mother
Superior, urgo tho people of Ontario
16 tnko an interest In tholr work.
To became better acquainted with
their nlms and purposes, and to
havo a part In tho effort to nlavlato
tho Ills which coma to tho Institu
tion every day. It should bo doom
ed n privilege to havo u part In this
work. It Is somothlug that will add
inoro to tho Joy and happlnoss of
thoso who give, thus thoy will bo
aiding others In n most practical
manner.
To bring about a' closer co-operation
between tho community and tho
hospital It has been proposod that
a hosDltal auxiliary bo established,
ns theso havo been established all
over tliu country during tho past
year. Tho Idoa Is a good ono for
only by such n moans can tho con
tinued co-operation which Is neces
sary bo maintained. Evocyono In
terested, not In tho hospital nlono,
but In tho bottermont of Ontario,
should bo enrolled In that associa
tion.

The Camel idea wasn't born then. It was the
exclusive expert Camel blend that revolutionized
cigarette smoking.
That Camel blend of choice Turkish and Domestic
tobaccos hits just the right spot It gives Camels such
mellow mildness and fragrance!
The first time I smoked Camels I knew they were
made for me, I knew they were the smoothest, finest
cigarette in the world,atany price.
Nobody can tell me anything different.
