qnHE whole trend of OPTOMETRIC practice is to-
ward greater accuracy. It is not only imper
ative that a thorough and detailed examination be
made, but that a proper equipment of OPTICAL
instruments, machinery, mountings and OPTICAL
accessories, are at hand.
The most perfectly fitted and ground lens, improp
erly adjusted or mounted can be ruined. We grind
; our own lenses forteach individual requirement and
style.
We use NO DRUGS in our examinations, neither do
we travel from town to town in search of business.
There is a reason. Ask us about it.

MANY BIRDS AVOID IRELAND
Specie. That Ar Common In. England
Are Not to Bo Pound In tho
Emerald Isle.
One of the curious features of wild
life In Ireland Is the absenco of some
of tho birds best known In England.
The nightingale, for Instance, Is never
found In Ireland, while the wood
warbler, the redstart, all the species
of woodpecker, the wryneck, tho nut
batch and several othor kinds aro so
rare that they are unknown to the
great majority of the people. There
seems to be no very obvious reason
for the absence of these birds. It tnir.
perhaps, be found In the Hues of mi
gration along which the birds travel,
for most of those mentioned above aro
not resident In Britain all the year.
But It Is certainly strange tlmt such
a bird, for Instance, as the common
whltcthroat, should thrive everywhere'
In Ireland, whllo the lesser variety Is
unknown, and that while the wlUow
warbler Is one ot the commonest of
summer birds Its larger relative, the
wood warbler, Is found In only a few
places and In very few numbers. Ire
land can only boast of ono bird, the
hooded crow, which Is not a regular
visitor In the neighboring Island

"Let me tell you," be went on,- "a
story about a shovel Just a hundred

"The digging was hard and alow,
and one of the workmen suggtsted to

corners of the shovels they would cut
Into the earth more easily and the

The boea ridiculed the Idea, but
the workman later on persuaded an
Ironmonger In Bhonleld to make him
a couple of dozen round-cornered
