"CAPITAL and INDUSTRY Keep Out!"
WOULD YOU, AS A PATRIOTIC CITIZEN OF OREGON, PLACE SUOH
A SIGN ON THE BORDERS OF THE STATE?
That is exactly what yon will help to do if you do nothing to prevent the
passage of measure No. .1M and 1115 on the November ballot entitled, "Con
stitutional Amendment Fixing Legal Rate of Interest in Oregon."
This measure proposes to limit the rate of interest in Oregon to 5 per cent.
You can, by law, fix the rate of interest in Oregon, but you cannot, by law,
force the loaning of money in this state, when a much higher rate can be se
cured elsewhere. The passage of this measures would force the withdrawal of
the millions of foreign capital which is today loaned on factories, business and
real estate in the state and send your local money owners outside of the state
to better investments.
Passage of this measure would mean foreclosure of thousands of mort
gages; would result in financial paralysis, and would mean widespread unem
ployment. You, no doubt, understand the viciousness of this measure, but have you
talked to your neighbors and friends about it? We urge you to do everything
you can to defeat this measure. Oregon's reputation as a sound state for
investments requires that this measure be overwhelmingly defeated.

Protect Your Investment in
Idaho Power Company's 7 per cent Preferred Stock
Tho growth of tho Idaho Power Company is as oj tain as tho Future of tho gretit territory which it serves. At the present timo, Southern Idaho and
Eastern Oregon aro undergoing remarkablo development. Great sections of farming land aro boing opened. New industries are springing up. Old onos aro
growing. All this means tho demand for more electric power and the certain growth of tho Idaho Power Company. Already ten groat generating plants,
with all their transmission and distributing lines, supply power to more than 32,000 customers. ,
, . BECOME PART
OWNER OF THIS SYSTEM
These are some of the reasons why Idaho
Power Company Proferred Stock is one of the
safest and most attractive investments on the
market today. With this great system rcpre
enting one of tho West's great industries secur
ing your investment, there is no possibility of
loss.
When you buy a share of Preferred Stock you

WHY YOUR 7 INTEREST
IS SURE
This 7 per cent Preferred Stock really con
stitutes a mortgage on tho Idaho Power Com
pany's property. That is tho meaning of Pre
foxred Stock. It ip sold to obtain part of tho
money needed for further development; but tho
entire Idaho Power Company's system stands as
its security.
And here is the reason why your 7 per cent in-.
terest is absolutely assured every year. That
interest is paid out of tho Company's annual in
como before tho Common Stcck owners receive
one cent of dividends.
Por instance, because of our low rates, Com
mon Stock owners last year received less than
2 per cent interest on their investment. Yet, the
full 7 per cent interest was paid on every dol
lar's worth of Preferred Stock that had been
sold by the Company.
And that will alwavs bo the case. That is whv
your 7 per cent interest is always assured.
MORE THAN HALF THE ISSUE OF
PREFERRED STOCK ALREADY SOLD
Substantial farmers and progressive busvueuK
men recognizo in Idaho Power Company 7 per
e.nt Preferred Stock an ideal investment. Its
perfect safety and its high rate qt interest ap
peal to them. And they welcome the opportun
ity of helping to build up this territory at the
same time that they are adding to their own
fortunes. ' '"rxr
