Fruitlnnd community sale held in Fruitland Thursday of last week was well attended and things brought fait prices. More than five hundred dol lars worth of property was auctioned ' which is considered n good beginning i T" date n" the next sale will be April .'!. Agent McDonald reported thirteen cars loaded with apples, hay and pota toes shipped from Fruitland in a sin gle ilny last week. The regular monthly meeting of i the W. C. T. U. will he held at the home of Mrs. H. E. Robinson this Thursday afternoon. The meeting led by Mrs. H. T. Lewis. Miss Apphin Robinson entertained in honor of Miss Kelley and Miss Hays who were here conducting the ft dOBCO school last Wednes day, Thursday and Friday, at Ep worth hall. The other guests were the Fruitland teachers and Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Scritchfield of Ontario. Rev. Oliver Hower nnd family who have lived on the T. C. Howard place the past several months will move this week to Emmett where he has ac cepted the pastorate of the Christian church at that place, where he has been holding regular services for some time. Mr. and Mrs. Howard who have been living in Long Valley will move back to their ranch. Mr .and Mrs. H. R. Russell and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Kennedy went to Boise Saturday in Russell's new car. They returned Sunday evening. Enid Griep and Martha Stevens went to Payette Heights Sunday to visit Alene McGreevey. Mr. Wm. Hollenbeck returned Mon day evening from his trip to Kansas where he has been visiting the pust three weeks. The spring has been fine nnd most of the early crops arc in, in good condition. Mrs. Ross Kennedy is enjoying a visit from her aunt, Mrs. Bard of California. She came home with Mrs. Kennedy Sunday evening from Boise where she has been visiting her daugh ter. The grange meeting this Friday evening will be at the home of Mr. N. W. I.ewis. Refreshments will be served. All members ore requested to be there. Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Sherman have returned to their home after several months absence. Mr. Sherman has been visiting in Iowa und spending some time in disposing of his dried raspberries. Mrs. Shermun has been in Caldwell keeping house for hei daughter who is uttending the College of Iduho. There will be a bond election held next Tuesday to decide whether w( shall have u new school building. There will be two questions to vote on The first question to bond for $15,000 foi the school building, and the second for $2000 for a heating plant, which is to be located to heat our present school building and also the one to be c recti -el. The people of this community will have an opportunity to attend a chuu tauqua this summer. The people of Payette have been successful in mak ing un agreement with the Ellison White Chuutuuquu company to come to Puyette in June. The contract is for a seven day program. Season tickets are $2.50 if purchased before the program, but ure to be $3.00 afterward. The full program will soon be made out and published. Although it will be a very busy time a good number from here will attend. Mrs. Chas. Stevens invited several of George's boy friends for dinner Sun day and to spend the afternoon to help him celebrate his thirteenth birthday. All hud a fine time. Harry Powell sprayed his prune or chard last week. He is well pie-used with his new gasoline engine power spraying outfit. He has engaged to do the spraying for several of his neighbors. Several of our young people will at tend the concert given in Payette Sunday afternoon by the high school orchestra under the direction of Prof. T. R. Neilson. Mr. Bowman has received word that he has the appointment as postmaster at Payette. His son Chilton and wife came down from Emmett and he and Logan will run the home pluce this year. Mr. Chas. Miss Amy Kelley of Moscow who is connected with the state university work will give a course in domestic science for the Indies of Fruitland and community Wednesday, Thursday nnd Friday of this week in Epworth hall. Mr. nnd Mrs. George Ohilils enter tained the Chas. Stevens family Sun day. Mr. B. A. Parhnin, of Spoknne, sales manager of the North Pacific Fruit Distributors, will speak this Thursday evening in Johnson's hall. He is the general sales manager "the man who sells the npples." He has been in touch with every apple mnr ket in the country as well ns foreign markets for several years and is able to inform the growers 10m. -ruing the marketing problems. It is hoped there will be a good attendance. Mr. H. R. Boomer, who lives two miles east of Fruitlnnd. owns one of the best small dairy herds in the northwest and in some respects rivnls any small Holsteln herd in the world. Mr. and Mrs. Perry Hunter left Wednesday of this week. They will stop in Boise Valley n few clays to visit friends there, then go to their home in Brookville, Pa. Mrs. A. H. MrConnell and tw. children, Nellie and Harry, and Jessie Riffle drove to Boise Friday in the MrConnell car. Mr. Chas. Rich has the measles this week. Mr. and Mrs. H. R. Russell were entertained at dinner Sunday even ing at the George Smail home, New Plymouth. Mrs. S. A. Pardunn left Inst Friday afternoon for Baker City to visit her daughter Gertrude Young. Mrs. A. Grimes returned Sundu evening from Lewiston where she was called on account of her daughter' illness from un attack nf appendicitis. She was operated on last Wednesday and is recovering nicely. Her many friends hope she will soon be able to take up her school work again in thr normal in Lewiston where she at tended this year. Mr. Mr Henry hus rented the ten inn' plate belonging to H. It.
