Enid Griep planned a surprise partv 'or Martha Stevens and invited 18 of her friends to meet at Martha's home, Friday evening, which they did nd all enjoyed a fine time. Miss Esther Russell who has spent the fall and winter attending school "d visiting relatives in Modesto, Cal. Francisco this week and return home1 will attend the exposition at San I next week. Mrs. Scritchfield of Ontario attend ed Mother's Circle meeting here Fri day afternoon, and Earl, who is at tending school here, returned homo with her in the evening to stay over Sunday. H. W. Van Aken is puting the ma terial on the ground for a new house, to he built on his father's place just south of Peter Enberg's fine home. Mrs. Swank, formerly of this place but now of Payette, is the proud mo ther of a fine 8W pound boy, bom March 4th. Mr. H. R. Frost is looking for her father Mr. P. J. Lyons, of Minneapo lis, Minn., to arrive Saturday for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Hunter of IVnnsyl vnnia, who are visiting with his bro ther, Mr. E. E. Hunter, spent Sunday at the Miller home north of Payette Those who own land above the ditches about four miles southeast of town, are planning to put in a pump ing plant this spring, to raise water from the farmer's Co-operative ditch to water six or seven hundred acres of dry land. This will be a great im provement and It is hoped the project will be completed in time for a crop this year. Mrs. Iva Daliell Is very sick this week with the measles. Miss Lulu Bayer left Saturday for Denver, Col., where she will take nurse training in the St. Luke's Hospital. She will be greatly missed here hut we know she will be a useful efficient nurse and wish her success in her work. Mr. and Mrs. Silas Carter who left here five years ago, have decided to return and are moving to the Warner place north of Pleasant View school house. The W. H. M. S. of the M. E. church will meet at the home of Mr. und Mrs. Gillmore, east of town, this Thursday afternoon. This is their qusrterly tea meeting and is the social meeting of the society. Refreshments will be served and a good program has been prepared and a free will offering will be received. Mr. Shirley Kingsbury left last week to join his wife at Independence, Oregon, who has been there for sev eral weeks visiting her mother. Last Thursday morning a disagree ment arose among the Greek railroad workers near Buckingham and a fight occurred vvhiih ended in one getting hurt quite badly by being struck on the head by one of them with a mon key wrench. Mr. H. R. Frost went to Caldwell Wednesday on business and will go to lloise before returning home Saturday. Mrs. Chas. I.ockner was taken ser iously ill Friday night with heurt trouble.
