This is a decrease of 216 from the census of last year, when the number was 44, 916. A half million dollars has been spent on the construction and main tenance of roads in Clatsop county the past year sud approximately $76,000 remains to be paid contractors for work that Is yet uncompleted. It appears from the report of the Oregon Conservation commission, which has just been made public, that Portland, more than any other city in the country, is entitled to be called the "Power City." The commission reports a grand total of I.1J8.170 horsepower In its vicinity.
