CRAWFORD-COYVARD One of the neatest weddings that ever took place in Oregon or cured in Ontario at f o'clock p. m., December 22, 1914. when, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr, and Mrs. Thomas Coward, to the strains of the wedding march, C. A, Crawford led forth Kthel U Coward and were united in marriage by Judge G. L. King. Harry Goshart was best man and Miss Mattie Dennis was brid smaid. Mr. Crawford is a native of Malheur County and is held in high esteem by all who know him. Miss Coward is the charming and accomplished daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Coward, one of th.i leading families of eastern Oregon. Both the bride and her maid were handsomely gowned and the rooms were beautifully decorated. Among the numerous presents were various pieces of cut glass, a full set of silver ware in an elegant mahogany case, $20 gold pieces etc. Only the immediate families of the contracting parties and a few close frienda were present. After the cere mony all sat down to a dinner which, for bounty, skill of preparation and delicacy of decoration and aervire, is seldom eipjalled and never surpassed. Immediately after dinner the bride and groom, amidst a shower of rice, old shoes and go.sl wishes, took a train for various points in the east, 3 Piece Lisk Roasters Satisfaction Guaranteed or Your Money Refunded No. 3 Regular Price $2.75 Sale Price No. 4 Regular Price 3.50 Sale Price No. 5 ' Regular Price 3.25 Sale Price ONLY ONE TO EACH PERSON $2.25 2.50 2.75 These Prices Good Until Christmas Only SPECIAL ON PARING KNIVES 15 cent Grade 25 cent Grade only only 5c 15c This Price Good Only While The Present StockgLasts SPECIAL ON NICKLE SILVER Table Knives and Forks $1.00 to $1.50 Set Special Six Knives and Six Forks $1.00 Regular Regular Regular If You Entertain You Will Be Interested (' M tiaiduer, AaaUtant Stats Vetriniry of Salem, was in Ootario. IMans of the state project never were sent to Washington for inspection or approval, nor has the Interior Oenartinent or Reclama tion Service Ih-cii advised from time to I time as to the progress made with the state work. Kather, the Secretary said, thf state has built the Tumalo project as an in dependent state enterprise, and had Governor West and State Kngineer Lewis regarded that project as part of the co-operative scheme, he thought they certainly would have advised with go eminent engineers and authorities from time to tune. However, after hearing all that Sen ator Chainberluin and Representative Sinnott had to say, Secretary Lane an nounced his willingness to withdraw the condition he suggested should be attached to the appropriation to be made by Congress, and if the irriga tion committee, after hearing all the facts, is willing to make an uncon ditional appropriation of $4.0,000, or even more, tor builiting a new ir rigation project in Kastci n Oregon, he will approve that proposal. He will insist, however, that ap propriation made lie spent on the project found most feasible by engi neers ot the Reclamation Service who have been examining various possible projects in Kastcrn Oregon. The secretary assured his callers that he maintains his view that Oregon ha been discriminated against in the past in the distribution of reclamation money and that it should receive its just deserts from this time on. In view of Secretary Lane's state ment to him toda , Representative Sinnott will ask the Secretary to ap pear before the irrigation committee before it reports the bill making the appropriation for irrigation projects for the next fiscal ear and will also ask officials of the Reclamation Serv ice t appeal . for he is confident that when the entire record is laid bare the committee will appropriate not less than $450,000 for sonic new govern ment project in Oregon C'o-opcratiw' Idea Mai IU- Propped. Before Senator Chamberlain and Representative Sinnott left the depart ment Secretary Lane told them ex plicitly that he would not sanction the use of the money he has allotted for any but co-operative work and under the terms of agreement, as he understands them, but if Congress de sires to make the appropriation with out condition he then will be willing to drop the co-operative idea.
