FRUITLAND ITEMS Mrs. J. W. Boon gnve a lin en shower Saturday afternoon for her daughter, Florence. A bbut twenty invited guests en joyed a pleasant afternoon. Miss Florence received several use ful presents consisting of nap kins, towels, dresser scarfs, tahle cloth, laundry bags and pillow slips. Delicious refreshments were served by the hostess. The embroidery club met last Friday afternoon with Mrs. William Homan. The ladies spent a pleasant time visiting together. Dainty refreshments of stea wherries, cake and ice tea were served. Messrs. J. T. Mnthews pro feasor of mathematics and Flo rian Von Eschen professor of physics and chemistry in the Willamette University at Salem, Oregon were in this neighbor hood Tuesday looking for young people to attend the University next year. Kev. Johns of On tario and Kev. Deal accompan ied them. Misses Mamie and Lulu Hay. er returned Saturday after a ten day trip in Portland, New port and Corvalhs, Oregon. Miss Vallie Colwell ontortuin ed a jolly crowd of young peo plo at her homo last Wednes day evening. The party was in honor of Miss Florence Kin. soy of Boise who spent the week in this neighborhood vis iting. Mrs. II. K. Robinson is quite ill. The W. C. T. U. will meet Tuesday afternoon with M.s. William Iloman. about two hundred people participated in a rahb;t drive Monday evening near the Or chard Tract. It is estimated that more than 300 rabbits were killed. No guns were allowed, all the rabbits being killed with clubs which caus ed much excitement. Mr. and Mrs. H. R. RU8. sell entertained Edgar Vestal at dinner Sunday. Peering, a nephew of George Deerlng. who was shot and killed near his home near Graagevllle has been arrested by the authorities of Idaho county, and Ib held as a sus pect In the shooting. Voung Deerlng stoutly protested arrest and disclaims any connection with the shooting. Investigation of the conditions about the Peering ranch revealed that some relationship difficulties have arisen in the past few weeks.
