o f M t Jefferson. Mr. Pierce stat­
ed that they tramped over snow
drifts three feet deep, sometimes
breaking through. One
thing
particularly noticed was the ab­
sence o f annimal life. He said
they walk d several miles with­
out hearing a bird sing. Nospuir-
reis were seen except one pine
spuirrel at the cabin. In all it was
thoroughly enjoyable trip. They
bad exceptional luck, practically
all o f them bringing home the
limit.
