Peter Burton, one of the employees, amazes Constance by telling her he paid J510 at auction for an old law book con taining a Colfaa bookplate. Sud denly a girl's shriek of “ Mur der!" rings out. The elderly cus tomer Is on the floor unconscious, with his right wrist slashed Just before the shrieking girl falls in a faint, she calls out to Peter: “ Keep It! Keep It for me!"
