Chem aw a in th is line are equaled by
only one other school in the Service.

instru ctio n covers the branches ta u g h t
in G ram m ar schools of the country.
The school was established by M ajor
W ilkinson, F eb ru ary 25, 1880, being the
second oldest N on-reservation school in
the U nited States. From a sm all school
of tw enty-five children it has grown step
ov step from y ear to year.

775 pupils, having an average a tte n d
ance of 615.
The school y ear closed
with 382 boys and 266 girls on the rolls.

the continued prosperity and good nam e
of Chemawa.
