The farmers are seeding the tract west
of the root house.
The baseball team will leave here to
morrow for Mt. Angel.
The first baseball team went to Dallas
last Saturday and were defeated by a
score of 5 to 3.
The farmers are busy digging a ditch
down at the lake so as to drain the low
land of its w’ater.
Mr. Dillstrom and his force are busy
cutting wood in the timber behind the
school building.
Joe Simpson has had good training
here at Chemawa. and now he works at
his trade in Salem.
Martha Andy is making a very pretty
beaded belt for Lubova Siftsoff, which
she is very anxious to finish.
Matthew Scott went to town last Sat
urday and bought a first-class saxophone
and is now learning to play upon it.
E. L. Anderson, of California, a mem
ber of the Senior Class, will visit a
friend in Spokane, Washington, this sum
mer.
Neva Souvigner and Ethel Roberts
have many new songs and you can hear
them practicing every day during the
noon hour.
After working at the employes’ club
for some time, Minnie Clark is now
working under Miss Brown at the
sewing-room.
Hazel Butler of the Senior Class gave
a very interesting talk in chapel on Mon
day niornii g. Her subject was, “ The
Panama Canal.’’

Leanora Rainville and Minerva Mecum
joined the Bible class on Sunday after
noon and enjoyed the meeting which was
held in the woods.
Tillie Reinkin was very much delight
ed to have her brother-in-law, Mr. Charles
Berch, from San Francisco, California,
visit her on Sunday afternoon
How’ard Logan and George Roberts
went out walking yesterday afternoon
and they brought some pretty flowers
with them and give them to their sisters.
Sarah Monroe, Lubova Sift«off and
Leona John have a pet eel in a small
tub. They are all very much interested
in the little eel and they take very good
care of it.
Marie Costa has been in charge of the
sewing-room during a short illness of
Miss Brown. Marie has worked in the
sewing-room fora longtime and man
ages the affairs real well.
The baseball boys reported having had
a very enjoyable ride to Dallason Satur
day. The trip was made in buggies and
was made all the more enjoyable by the
good weather that prevailed.
Sallie Boswell has organized a quartet.
The members are Elsie Green, Ethel
Roberts and Agnes Nathan. She says
she will teach them some new songs
later on. We expect to hear them sing
in chapel some night soon.

Monday afternoon the following boys
were the first eighteen to come in from
the five-mile jaunt: Kiutis Jim, W.

W. Pratt, J. Demmert, T. Powers, A.
Talbot, J. Adams, R. Martin, M. Charles,
J. Bittles, E. Threemountain, W. Lee,
A. Francis, B. Spencer. Very good time
was made.
