Sallie Byers is making some very pret ty embroidry work for Nellie Bos well Nellie -Spencer returned to school last evening and we were all glad to see her. Supt. Chalcraft took some pictures of some of the largest potatoes of the year's crop on Monday. Katie Stevens is now working in the dining ball and she is one of Miss Skip ton's best workers. Joseph Simpson is making his brother, David Simpson, a very nice blue serge suit in the tailor shop. Mrs. Cooper is very pleased with the junior and senior classes, as they are all good bread-makers. Misses Grear and Faris' schoolrooms Jook very attractive with the pretty window boxes filled with geraniums. If the fourth grade pupils do not know their tables it will not be their teacher s fault as they practice them every day. Mary Costa says that she enjoys work ing in the Domestic Science every day; she made some very nice biscuits on Monday. Teachers' meeting was held as usual on Monday evening after t-chool. These meetings are very helpful to both the teachers and their classes. On Saturday Buford Spencer went to Salem and bought himself a violin, on which he is now practicing and he can play many tunes already. The second football team played the third team on Saturday and it was an interesting; game. The score was 17 toO in favor of the second team. Annie'Evans made some very nice corn bread in the Domestic Science on Monday morning, which was much en joyed by the senior and junior classes. Blanche Reed is much interested in the story Callista Rainville told her of a little book which Callista drew out of the library at McBride Hall, it is called. "The Story of Patsy". Mr. Campbell visited the senior class and gave us an interesting talk while we wrere having our geography lesson. One subject was "The Principle Manufactur ing Cities of the United States." Minerva Mecum is a very industrious girl. You can see her with her books, studying until the lights are turned off at the power house. She says she. will try to stand at the head of her class if possi ble this year. Miss Grear's chapel talk on Monday morning was very much enjoyed by the school. ' The subject was "Smuggling" and many interesting incidents were told regarding the way that different people try t;i smuggle dutiable goods in to this country.
