THE CHEMAWA AMERICAN o O THANKSGIVING EXERCISES. On Thursday morning at 10 o'clock the pupils and employes of the school as sembled in chapel for Thanksgiving ex ercises. The chapel was beautifully decor ated and there was quite a display of fruits and vegetables. Evergreens adorn ed the rostrom and the school colors, red and white, were in evidence here and there. Chalacraft presided over the ex ercises and a he called upon the various employes and students present each arose and made remarks appropriate to the occasion. Among those who made re marks were several visitors at the schcol. . DINNER At noon all repaired to the dining room, where after grace by Supt. Chal craf. the students were served with a tine turkey dinner. The employes of the school carved the turkeys and acted as waiter. The dining-room certainly presented a fine appearance. Ever greens, colored papers and pumpkins were used in the artistic and beautiful ef fects produced and were certainly a fine testimonial for those who had the work in charge. Following is the menu served on this occasion: Roast Oregon turkey with cranberry sauce, giblet gravy, pickle relish, salad, mashed potatoes, mince pie, pumpkin pie, fruit cake, jelly, ap ples, bread and butter and coffee CHEMAWA VS. ALBANY HIGH ' The above is the way the game Was advertised and was also the w7ay we ex pected to play but,if it had read, Chemawa vs. Albany High, Albany College and Alco Athletic Club, it would have been advertised correctly. The game w'ent something like this: Albany and our boys played about an even game in the first quarter, but in the second quarter our boys, for a reason unknown, could not stop the man behind the combined A. H. S., A. C. and A. A. C. interference and they made twyo touch-downs, one by line plungs nine seconds before time was up and the other by a forty-five yard ' run by an Albany man after receiving a forward pass from the quarterback of that combined lay out. He carried the ball to within 10 yards of our goal, but was then downed. The next three rushes put the ball over the line and (Continued on page 6.) The Thanksgiving dinner at the em ployes' quarters was very nice in every way. We had an unusually large gather ing at the "festive board" on this occa sion and hospitality and enjoyment of the occasion were in evidence on every hand. The dining-room was beautifully decorated, even to the tables, evergreens being in profusion on all sides. Miss Trouiman, manager of the ''Mess," and her assistants are certainly deserving of praise in making such ample provision for the occasion.
