Consider everything and see if you do not conolude that you are worthy some thing better in life than is offered by your present position. If you are of sound mind you will not later on in life want to do all the hard and dirty work which others refuse to do. You will not wish to find yourself in the position of a human scavenger will you? Of course not. But such has been the h t of countless thousands of people from the beginning of time, because they did not prepare for something better. Such will be your fate, too, if you fail to fit yourself for the better things of life. During youth is the time to prepare for some calling or occupation which will assure not only a competency but self respect and the esteem of others. It is well for the Indian youth of the country to consider these matters. It is well, also, for the parents and. friends of these young people to think hard on these matters. There is no inheritance of so much value as a well schooled brain and skilled hands. You may bewail the fact that you oan not inherit great wealth, hut you have no right to lament your ina bility to secure an education or to learn a trade to fit yourself for an honorable position in whatever community you may elect to reside. Chemawa stands ready to provide you, free of expense to yourself, with an equipment which will better qualify you for the battles of life than would an inheritance of gold. Think of it! It is for you. It is free, You have but to ask for it. Will you ask? Will you qualify yourself for fu. ture responsibility and independence, or will you conclude to drift along from day to day until it is too late? Now is the time to wake up and become active, or eventually you will find that you must always do dirty work for others, with little pay for such service you will become a human scavenger, -ROOM AT THE TOP. The higher up you are enabled to climb on the ladder of life the more room you will have for your elbows. Very few people get to the top, or anywhere near there, and for this reason there is lots of room up at the top. The vast majority of people are found down at or near the foot of the ladder, They find it too hard work to climb, so they re main below where everybody is crowd ing ' the other fellow" and the pay is poor. We hope that all of our Chemawa pu pils, and those who are intending to en roll at Chemawa, wfcfl resolve to climb high up the ladder they are on, be it housekeeping, farming, or what not. f It is for their own good that they climb hard and reach the topmost rungs o? the ladder. The pay is better up there; there is more room and the air is purer. Now is the time to begin climbing.
