We 'all enjoyed the band concert Sun
day. Willie Ready entered the tailor shop
a few days ago.
The Alaskan children had a sociable
JaSt Monday night.
The engineers and plumbers are giving
the plumber shop a genaral clean up
this week.
The girls of the graduating class can
be seen very busy every day sewing for
themselves.
Mr. Campbell, Mr. Smith and Mr. Lar
sen gave the relay boys "medicine" talks
on Monday.
Mrs. Liphart's daughter Minnie came
down from Portland to visit her mother
last Sunday.
We are all glad to see Lawrence Smith
back again after having his long vaca
cationathis home in Grande Ronde.
Mary Loftus and Eleanor Lynch are
progressing rapidly in duet playing.
They have several duets in their reper
toire Viola Ferris is taking music les-ons on
the mandolin and she is getting along
very nicely. She practices every spare
minute she ha,s
Last Sunday Miss Nicholson took a
number of girls out to spend the after
noon in the woods. We all had a nice
time gathering flowers.
'1 he sewing-room girls have finished
both sets of summer uniforms for the
lrls, and are now making some nice
ourtains for Brewer Hall.
Dollie Case appreciated the first straw
berries of the season and grape juice
that Misses Grear and Faris brought
her while she was in the hospital.
Father Paul Datin,of Brooks, Oregon,
is now coming down every ' Monday to
instruct all of the Catholic pupils of Che
mavva. We all appreciate his kindness
very much.
Yon can hear Olive Picard early in the
morning practicing on the piano. She
is one of Miss Campbell's best musicians.
She has a new piece, the name of it is
"Forget-me-not."
The Estelle Reels had a nice picnic
Saturday afternoon and every girl that
went enjoyed playing in the woods be
fore eating her supper. And we thank
Miss Faris and Miss Grear for the nice
time we had. n
Ellen Tohet and Millie Friedlander
are busy every spare moment they have
making sofa pillows in order to have a
cozy corner. Ellen says she loves to sit
and gaze around at beautiful things, so
she is trying to have a corner which will
be attractive to those who may visit her.
Mr. Abbott, who is interested in Sun
day school and Bible classes, visited the
school rooms on Tuesday afternoon. He
gave the seniors a few encouraging
words. Esther Napoleon and Harry
Jones then told him what the members
of the Y. W. : nd Y. M C. A. were do
ing. Mr. Marsden an Indian Missionary of
Alaska, gave the girls and boys a very
interesting talk. He spoke about the
opportunities that we have at the pres
ent time, and hopes that we will make
the best of them. We also learned that
he is tiying to uplift his race. In clos
ing his talk, he wished all the boys and
girls success.
