6 THE CHEMAWA AMERICAN "JACK" WRITES A LETTER. Under date of Jan. 22, 1910, the fol lowing letter was received at this office from John McCush, a former student of Chemawa and an apprentice in our printing office, and who is now employ ed with the Advance Publishing Co., of Fortuna, Calif: As I am not doing anything this after noon the thought came to me that owed you a letter and I concluded I would write you these few lines to let you and the printer boys know that I am still on the map of the living. I am still in the printing business and expect to be for some time yH. I work only a short distance from Eurek;i, where Robt. Cameron is engaged in the printing department of the Eureka Htr ald. We see one another occasional and talk over old Chemawa days. I have a steady job now operating a linotypp machine for the Fortuna Ad vance a weekly edition. I receive a copy of the Chemawa American each week and it seems just like a letter from home to me. I read every word of it and I wish to congratulate the printers on their splendid work in the basket ball tournament. I will now close with best wishes for yourself and the printer boys. John E. McCush. KLAMATH NOTES. Mr. George Trotter and wife arrived in our little city last Friday. They are two new employes. Mr. Trotter is principal in charge and his wife takes Miss Miller's place as intermediate teacher. "Messrs. Nilander, Holman and Jackson, local men, are putting the finishing touches to our new school house and will be done by Feb 1 Miss Catharine Russell, an old friend of Mr. Ford, came up recently from California and made him a visit of a week. They had not seen; each other for- ten years. Miss Russell is interested in a gold mine in the famous French Gulch, California. The young father who is told to mind the baby might as well do it, for the baby will never mind him. Wisdom consists largely in knowing when we have said enough. When a bowling alley attendant gets fired it proves that he doesn't amount to a "row of pins." . Miss Mary Bratley, who has been seam stress here for over a year, has offered her reoignation to takes effect Feb 1. She will go to New Mexico. Chas. Hood, our ex-school farmer, was here Saturday visiting old friends. OREGON ELECTRIC SCHEDULE. Paste this in your hat. Lv. Salem 6:10 a. m. Ar. A HIGH TRIBUTE TO OREGON CLIMATE (Henry T. Fink in Scribnei's Magazine for February.) The climate does it a great cli mate! I was in Oregon seventy one days last Summer, and if I could have regulated the ther mometer to suit myself I should not have touched it three times! A night's sleep in Oregon is worth a week's vacation in the East.
