LIVE ITEMS.
Mrs. Campbell and Miss Irene visited
friends in Salem Saturday and Sunday.
Sadie Cook arrived at the school
yesterday from Silttz and has been en
rolled. Owing to the wedding last Thursday
night, the meeting of the EsUdle Reel
Literary Society was postponed.
Mrs. Chalcraft has been sharing with
her friends a nice lot of persimmons
that Supt. Chalcraft brought from Il
linois. The girls' basketball team have not
had any practice the past twu' weeks on
account of the gym being otherwise
occupied.
Miss Wolfe, a former Carlisle student,
arrived at the school this week, and is
rilling the position of matron for the
small boys.
Next Friday our boys will play the
quintet from Philomath College on our
floor. This is our next game in the -Willamette
Valley League.
Mr. Woods has made two filing cabi
nets for the office for trie pupils' checks
that will be great labor-savers, i'hey
are neat pieces of work. x
The material is all here for the repajrs
of Brewer Hall, where work will go f0r
ward as soon as the work on the boyS'
brick dormitory is completed.

Chemawa and Klamath Falls a. recep.
tion was tendered the visiting team,
Light refreshments were served and all
in attendance seemed to have an enjoy
able time.
We are looking forward to some musi
cal programs. Mr. Turney has promised
us a concert by the Mandolin Club and
orchestra; Miss Campbell a public reci
tal oi her music pupils; and Mr. Larsen
says the band is ready with a concert
whenever called upon.
Dr. E. E. Fisher, of Salem, who was
temporary physician at Chema a during
the interum of Dr. Lieurance. going to
Cr )w and the arrival of Dr. Fulkerson,
made many friends while at Chemawa
and by his care of the sick endeared
himself to all who had aches or pains.
As one of the pupils remarked, "things
are certainly doing at Chemawa this
winter." The student body never were
more contented Basketball and kindred
sports have served to fill in the lime not
employed at work or school. The In
dustrial departments all show good pro
gress; the academic department reports
that the advancement of the pupils in
their studies is g nerally marked and in
every direction good will and fellow
ship seems to prevail.
