CUT'IING TABLE CLIPPINGS.
At the recent election held in the
Tailor Shop, Luther Clements was elect
ed Captain of the Tailor Shop basket
ball team.
On an order signed by the office the
Tai.or Shop basketball team made long
trousers to be worn as a part of the
basketball uniforms, and by taking up
a collection of 75cts ach--we were en
abled to purchase a purple sleeveless
jersey and enough felt to make a letter
" T" to adorn the breast of each jersey,
thus carrying out the suggestion which
appeared in the columns of theChemawa
American recently: I hat each, team be
dressed alike or the offending member
.would-be ruled off the floor for that
' game. - j
The Tailor Shop team is now in prop
er shape and if the members will keep
their eyes on the ball and not on their
.new .uniforms they may be able to win
games in the future?
On Tuesday Jan. 25, 1910, the Tailor
Shop was the recipient of a large con
signment of delicious pies, given to the
Tailor Shop apprentices by our friend
Mr. Mann. We, the Tailor Shop ap
prentices, wish to offer thanks to Mr.
Mann for giving the pies, and to Mrs.
Mann for being so kind as to make and
bake such appetizing pastry for us.
For this we are thankful.

We received a back set last Friday
night when Pacific College quintet de
feated our boys by the score of 19 to 15.
We ought to have won and would have
had. Clark and Souvigner played their
positions. "

Alvina Smith is , now working in. the
laundry.
Arthur Van Pelt is out again after
being ill fr soui" time.
Frances Picard is working in the din
ing hall and she handles her dishes with
care. .
The engineers repaired the' brickwork
in "front of the boilers in the boiler-room
this week. - ! :
Some of the Chemawa people attend
ed the play, "The Wolf," in Salem on
Saturday night.
Mr. Smith and a few boys gave the
outside west end of Brewer Hall a. good
scrubbing on Monday.
The Senior and Junior Classes are
looking forward to their annual party
on St. Valentine's Day.
Brown Jones is fireman this week in
the boiler room, Cyril Morrissette is run
ing the engine, and William Shakley is
the oiler.
Clarence Lewis, who was on the sick
list for several days, is now well and
has resumed his studies at the Salem
High School.
The farmers have been busy during
the past week, and part of last, hauling
gravel from the Claggett gravel pit, to
be used in Mitchell Hall.
