THE SUPERINTENDENTS' CON.
FERENCE AT WASHINGTON.
Over thirty of the Superintendents in
the Service were present at the Wash--ington
conference, called by Commis
eioner Valentine. Among those present
were the following:

Morris, Cochran of Vt. Pleasant, Hart

The conference lasted from December
6 to 10 inclusive, and topics of vital in
terest to the Indian Service were discus
ed. The following was the program:
Morning Sessions, 10:00 to 12:00 o'clock.
Afternoon Sessions, 1:30 to 3:30 o'clock.
December 6 Morning session: Address
by the Commissioner, Eleotion of Presiding
Offioer, Organization of Conference. After
noon session: Discussion of nonreservation
school problem.
December 7 Morning session; Adminis
tration of schools, Afternoon session: Day

Discussion of Nonbeservahon' Schools
Is there nay necessity for nonreservflton
schools? If so, how many?
Should nonreservation schools be classi v
fled aud specialized aa to coursetrade
schools, agricultural schools, normal schools,
commercial schools, etc, and prohibit trans
ferof pupUs from on school to another un
til they ) ave completed a course in the school
at which they were first enrolled. Abolish
the conditions that make the school trump
possible.

be restricted to definite territory?
