CHEMAWA WINS FROM ASTORIA.

kicked off and Astoria advanced the ball.

after a few line smashes they lost the
ball. Here Chemawa's ; players ;.; began'
their work and with their magnificent

Jones carried the ball over the line for
the first touch down and goal was kick
ed The second touch.down was made
by Bain after 13 minute?' play and goal
was made. Astoria' kicked to Chemawa
and Jones advanced 15 yards. After
some li fie bucking Chemawa made a,
forward pass and lost the ball. Then
for offside playing Chemawa was pena
lized 10. yards after which a quarter
back kksji was madrf which went out of
bounce and the ball .went to Astoria.
They then rushed it down for- their only'-'
touch down. " No goa I.
Chemawa's third touch down "was
made by Clark through a forward pass
carrying the ball fully 50 yards. Goal
was kicked The first half e ided with
a score of 18 to 5.
In the second half Astoria kicked to
Chemawa and Smoker advanced 25 yds
After about 7 minutes, playing the "ball
wasgiv-i to Jones who ran 10 vards
through the line for a touch down. No
goal. A few minutes after this Smoker
made a 40 yard end run, for a touch down. .
Goal was made. The rest of the half
was spent in exchanging line smashes
aiidpunting.-.i T.re game ended with the
ball in the center of field . in Astoria's
hands.

CHEMAWA 9, TURNER 6. '
Last Saturday our second team jour
neyed to Turner, Oregon, to play the Turn
er Athletic Club which we found was com
posed of players of all ages and conditions
and from all sections of the valley. We
were, met by the manager of the team and
escorted ,to the hotel and after getting our.
bearings were allowed to view the city
and (send postal cards) to see the
grounds., No time was lost when dinner
was announced but . when -. the manager
ordered all pie taken from the tabie sev
eral pairs of eyes were cast in his direc
tion. . ; ,
The game commenced ' at 2:30 p. m.
and from the way the Turtier boys waded
through our line it looked as if there
would be a land slide in favor of Turner;
out weighed by at least 30 pounds to the
man, our - boys ' could not hold and in
about-5 minutes the Turner rooters -had
a chance to test their lung capacity.
Turner making a touchdown and kick-,
ing goal.. , No. more scoring u,ntil .. near
the. end of the half when Chemawa ad
vanced the ball to the twenty yard line
