Brevities Mr. Mann is off to the south on sick leave. Nora Mann is now clerking for Mr. Henderson. Mr. Larsenis spending his vacation in the Sound Country. The Senior Grade is doing excellent work in arithmetic. Miss Ella Hirsch was a visitor at the Campbell over Sunday. Mr. Herbert Campbell of the Oregonian visited his parents last week. A number of our . girls are taking music lessons from Miss Irene Campbell. David Simpson, Mathias Simpson and Charles Scott arrived this week from Al aska. Harry Queahpalma is running a prune drier for Mr. Beardsley to the west of the school. We hear that Fred and Clarence Lew is who graduated in July have entered the Tacoma High School, Mr. and Mrs. Hendricks .with some friends and relatives were welcome visit ors at Chemawa during the week. Alice Chalcraft started on Monday to go to the new Garfield School, which opened on that date in Salem. Margaret Lowry, of the this years grad uates, the valedictorian of the class is a Freshman in the Greenville Cal. High School. Lieutenant J. C. Hatei. of Vancouver Barracks, spent a couple of hours looking through the departments of Chemasvaon Monday. Joe Purns'and Frank Souvigner were working a couple of days this week for Mrs. J. P. Jones, on her farm down at Lincoln. The school had a very pleasant visit on Monday afternoon from Mr. R. J. Hendricks, of Salem, his wife and a party of friends. John Ammon, John Brown, and Amos Smoker are away for a few days work ing in South Salem for Mr. Waid, dry ing prunes. Mrs. Campbell had an inteiesting letter from Sarah Brewer. Loulin and Sarah who graduated this year are attending the Tacoma High School." They are making a little sewing room in the small girls home so that th girls j cau mend their own clsthes. Our good friend, Judge Childs sent up two nice girls from the Lower Klamath country the early part of this week. They were Sara George and Rosie Jackson. Mr. Chalcraft left yesterday for the j Yakima Reservation after a party of i pnpils.' He will stop at Seattle en route and see the closing of the Yukon Expo.-; ition. Last Saturday while the hospital " girls were, baking pies , one of the girl? asked to clock the pies for a while. Sh. did not know the difference to (watch the pies and (clock) them.
