The 50 Mile Relay team received their
handsome medals just before the close
of last-term. Owing to the medals being
ordered from" the east they were delayed
and although - the race-was run May 1,
' it 'was not until August that they were
in the hands of the runners. , These hand
some trophies were presented to the suc
cessful team by ten business firms of
Salem. The . doners were the- Salem
Woolen Mill Store;. Steusleff Brothers;
RD,. Gilbert & Co.; Belle Confectionary;
J, L. Stockton; Trover , Photo Co.; Price
Shoe Co.; WattShipp; Barnes Cash Store;
and The Toggery.: The members of the
team, and the school extend to these gen
tleman our 'si ncere thanks in addition to
the Honey man Hardware Go. of Portland
who presented the cup. The' Medals and
Cup are the handsomest received in any
of our relay contests. - :;
We 1- were' surprised today to have
Mr; Antoine Caisse drop'in On us with
his son Master Byron Caisse who was
born in Chemawa while Mr. Caisse was :
employed here as clerk."". "'Mr. Caisse, is
now in the Forestry Service and located
at the AngeleS National Forest with head-'
qua rters at Los Angeles.' Mrs. Caisse
did not come .with him, KuT Mr. Caisse
says she is enjoying good health.
The farmers and dairy apprentices'are
busy turning the corn inio insilage for the 1
use of our herd. We have two' fifty ton '
silos which will be filled' with this 'feed,"
which in addition to several acres of kale "
bringing back his two sons Cyrus and
Gilbert, V Mr. Conner attended meetings
hi the Presbytry at Newbarg and Port
land enroute. - -s
Mr. Wm, Towner of Siletz brought
bis three sons, Gilbert, Elwood and
Lewis to the school this week. The
boys had been spending -their vacation
at Siletz.
. Mrs. Campbell returned fro-m Spokane
Wash, on Friday. Mr. Campbell met
her and their son, Donald at Seattle
where they visited the A. Y. P. expo

Mr. Donald P. Campbell editor of the.
Inland Observer of Spokane, .Washing
ton, arrived here , on Friday night,, and
spent several days visiting his parents.
The roof of the gymnasium is finish
ed and the first sociable of the school,
year will be held ; tonight; (, ;: We expect
good music from the,Jand, . " . :
A letter has been received from Lester
Spencer who is at Fort Ruger, Honolula.:
He expects to be back irivthe States this
winter when his enlistment in; the army
will have expired.". He is in the Artillery
Arm of the service,. - V

yesterday from Warm Springs.'
The electric" dish : washers have at
last arrived and will' soon be installed "
in the pupils dining room and Hos
pital kitchen. ' '

at Chemawa is, away on vacation this

. The Aermotor is , now merrily turning
to the breezes that come from, the, west.
It is not. yet .connected to the . well ,but
will, be in the near future.. . . .
Chemawas roses are beginning to put
out their fall bloom.
