runner. Sam John, upon his return from

Eleanor Lynch and Fred Choquett ar
rived here from Wrangell, Alaskaon the
7th of the month.
John Amnion, George Neleon, Albert
Griffin and Tommy Reed from Hum
boldt Co, Cal. have arrived and been en
rolled. Andy Walker has returned to his stud
ies and brought with him George Mc
Cloud of Puyallup, who has been enroll
ed as a pupil.
The engineers had their own time this
past week over the water question, and
found out that sometime improvements
do not improve..
Now that the harness shop is open
and running again, Mr. Swoboda's force
are finishing up an order for Mr. Al
pheus Dodge of Chilocco
WANTED Boys of good habits and
appearance to enlist in Chemawa Band.
Boys betweeen age of 14 and 17 prefer
red. Call on the Leader.
Mifs Reel is still' in the Northwest
and us mail contiuues to arrive at Che
mawa for her we are looking forward to
a visit from her in the near future.
We were very much surprised to have
Dr Cartor Montazuma drop off for a short
visit this week. The Doctor is mak
ing a tour of the Indian country as he
says. "His annual vacation."
Mr. Dagenett when he went to the
Teachers' Club was surprised to find
"Mother Noble", as she is called by all
the old Carlislers at the helm in caring
for the inner man of Chemawa's Em
ployes. The City Conncil of Eureka presented
the school a buck deer from their herd
in Seguoia Park. This park is in the
' redwoods and one of exceeding great
natural beauty. The deer has not yet
arrived but will be shipped in tne near
future.
Mr. Ruthyn Turney our printer has
resigned owing to ill health and this issue
of the American is being printed by the
apprentices. We now ask our readers to
be as lenient as possible for any mistakes
that may occur. In the near future we
expect to have another head printer.
The wagon shop is being put in ship
shape by Mr. Frye. The supplies are
neatly arranged around the room over
head, so that they are out of the road
and yet an hand for use. He and his
boys ars now making a chest of drawers
and nail chest for the use of the draft
ing room of the shop.
We had a suprise party drop in on us
from Alaska Wednesday of this week.
The party was in charge of S. G. Davis
of Howkan, Alaska. The following pu
pils were with him: Robert M. Jones,
Brown M. Jones, and Thomas M. Jones
from'Kassan. Alex Waters, Agnes Dug
lass, Samuel Duglass, Amanda Duncan,
Fred Grant, Rufus Edenso, Mathia Scott
came from Klinqun and Alex Davis,
Joseph Nix from Howkan.
